MVFD Averages an overall response time for the initial dispatch to an engine on scene of 13mins & 30secs.

Qualifications

The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for dedicated people that want to experience the challenging but rewarding experience of being a volunteer firefighter.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter you must be able to meet the certain criteria listed below.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must submit to a criminal background check
  • Must be a resident of the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department district
  • Must submit a driving record with application
  • Must submit to a drug test
  • Must submit to a physical by department physician

 

If voted into membership, you will serve a probation period of one year during which you will be required to:
  • Attend monthly business meeting’s unless it conflicts with work
  • Stand a monthly assigned duty
  • Run at least the minimum of 6 calls per quarter
  • Attend posted training events
  • Enroll in and complete a VA Department of Fire Programs Firefighter 1 certification class
  • Take an active part in fund drive activities
