On November 15, 2009 The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department Celebrated 50 years of serving the citizens of Amherst County. The event was held at the Madison Heights Community Center with a strong representation from the charter, honorary and current membership. Since 1959 our department has maintained a 100% Volunteer fire service. This continuous commitment has saved the citizens an enormous amount of tax dollars. A strong desire by the members to conserve life and property which was first established by our charter members is still present today. As we celebrated this event we were honored to have three of our charter members in attendance. We would like to thank each of our Amherst County citizens for their continued support and look forward to a safe and prosperous future.
